Creating shifts with multiple duties

Sometimes a shift will require a team member to step up to supervisor or to perform some alternate duty for part or all of the shift. YOUniverse supports multiple duties:

Here is a brief video on how to add multiple duties in one shift:

Creating a shift with multiple duties

1. In a roster view, click on the plus icon to create a shift

2. Fill in the shift details and select add alternate duties

3. Select the classification for the alternate duties and fill in the start and end time for that portion of the shift.

4. Select save

Multiple duties can be added and removed. The number of partial shifts is limited to a minimum of 30 mins each, and the start and end times must not clash and must be within the start and end time of the entire shift.

Costing implications for the award engine

When a shift has multiple duties the award engine will cost the shift according to the classifications of the different duties done and the amount of time on each:

  • In the example above:
    • 8:00AM to 10:00AM is costed at Level 1
    • 10:00 to 3:00PM is costed at level 3
    • 3:00PM to 4:00PM is costed at level 1
    • a break will be costed according to the portion of shift that it falls within.

The pay breakdown can be viewed with the new information (i) icon on the timesheet entry.

Clock data matches to alternate duties

When a time collection tool like QR collect is used to record clock in and outs from staff, the app will now match that time with rostered periods of alternate duty.
